What is a dental implant?

In the past, the treatment option for tooth loss was bridges and dentures, but today there is a brand new and permanent method. This method is stronger, can be used for many years and can be fixed even in the loss of many teeth. Screws of titanium, replacing the artificial tooth and placed in the jaw bone are called dental implants. Dental implants can be put in place of a single tooth in case of 1 tooth deficiency, and in the absence of all teeth, 6 - 8 pieces can be placed in each jaw.

Implant process and after

The implant procedure generally consists of 2 stages.

 

First stage:

Surgical stage: This is the process of placing the implant in the jaw bone. The dentist decides where exactly, in which length and diameter, he or she will place the implant in the jaw bone, based on radiography and / or tomography. Then he or she inserts the implant screw into the jawbone, usually while the patient is under local anesthesia.

The success of the implant, apart from placing implants in the right place, the right diameter and size, also depends on the high level of sterilization. The procedure itself and post-procedure are generally painless.

 

Second stage:

Prosthesis phase: This procedure can be done in 3 ways: prostheses made as soon as the implant is placed, prostheses made 6 weeks after the implant is placed, prostheses made 3-6 months after the implant is placed.

The differences in time will change according to the following: the structure of the person's bone, the size of the implant, the torque force provided when placing the implant, the type of prosthesis to be made, the biomaterial we have to use during implant surgery, and the patient's habit of using his or her teeth.

The dentist will decide on the length of this period after the surgery.

After the time is over, impression posts are attached to the small screw section on the top of the implant. Then, the measurement is taken and the prosthesis is made. After the prosthetic part is placed in the small screw section, fixed or movable prosthesis is placed on it.
