How often should you see the dentist?
Most of us have heard that it is necessary to visit a dentist every six month. Although we cannot practice it, we try to implement it. Of course, those who have problems with their teeth and gums may need to go more frequently.
It is necessary to go for a dental checkup after the age of 2, especially around 6-8 years old, after our first permanent teeth come in.
Acute (fast progressing) caries are more common in young people. Again, around the age of 20, the check-up of wisdom teeth is important.
In childhood and young adulthood, early diagnosis and preventive treatment of teeth and jaw structure issues, orthodontics problems, occlusion disorders can be done at an early stage by going to the dentist. Thus, when the jaw development is completed, we prevent a problem that can only be solved by major surgical operations.
Controls in older ages are also important for the detection of early dental problems and gum problems.
Dental controls also have a second effect. Although the dentist does not find a problem, he or she will remind the patients to take good care of their teeth.
