How do you get good oral hygiene?
Having a good oral hygiene is important not only for the mouth, but also for general body health.
The aim of providing oral hygiene is to remove the bacterial plaque formed in the mouth. Although many patients say that they brush their teeth 3-4 times a day, it is seen that they cannot remove the bacterial plaque. The bacterial plaque is a white yellow soft layer consisting of leftovers and bacteria. Even though people say that they brush their teeth very often, they may not be able to remove this plaque because they do not brush properly. Brushing correctly is brushing the line where the teeth meet with the gum. The bacterial plaque usually builds up here and creates discomfort in the teeth and gums.
Toothbrush, dental floss, interface brush, tongue brush (especially when you get up in the morning), special floss for under the bridge and mouthwash are very effective in providing oral hygiene. Your doctor will teach you how to use these apparatuses. Mouthwashes are used to maintain oral hygiene. However, mechanical cleaning is the main process.
It is also important that our patients with removable dentures in their mouths remove and brush these teeth with prosthetic brushes.
